- Story of Choki the cat -
Choki was Kuroken and Maoi's cat.
Both are graphic illustrators in Japan.
Choki was very docile and affectionate. Everyone fell in love with her.
The other cats with whom she lived all passed away before her.
At 21, she lost her eyesight completely due to Glaucoma.
Her eyes became as green as emeralds and looked very charming.
Although she had a disability, she challenged her fate bravely. .
She had an intensive care by Kuroken and Maoi.
They put their experience of looking after an aged pet in their blog to help anybody who goes through the same situation. In addition they uploaded videos on You Tube to share their experience.
Choki passed away in July 2010 at the age of 22 due to kidney failure.
A book, "Choki, a miracle cat became an angel" came out in December 2010 in Japan. It is about Kuroken and Maoi's life combating Choki's illness and the grief of loss. It is to help those who have similar situation.
Kuroken is now preparing an ebook - "Choki the cat became an Angel".
It will be illustrated with his own art work.
The purpose of this book is to help individuals deal with Pet Loss Syndrome.

22歳まで生きた猫チョキはイラストレーターのくろけんとmaoiの家族です。チョキはおっとりしていて愛くるしい猫で、誰もが魅了されました。チョキの猫兄妹たちが先に逝ってしまたあとは、チョキ、くろけんとmaoiの３人家族となりました。

21歳になった頃に緑内障で全盲となり、瞳孔が全開になった事でエメラルドのような愛らしいまんまるの瞳となりました。どんなに辛いことかと思いきや、全盲になったチョキは耳や鼻やヒゲ、そして手先足先を敏感にして、勇敢にハンデに立ち向かっていきました。

くろけんとmaoiはチョキが22歳で腎不全でなくなるまで、24時間介護を続けました。そしてその様子を写真に取ったり、動画に収め、同じように高齢ペットの介護をされている方々のための参考にとブログを立ち挙げたり、YOU TUBEに動画をアップロードしたりしました。

それが話題になり、チョキは2010年7月に天使になりましたが、その直後に出版社からの依頼で写真＆エッセイ という形で単行本「天使になった全盲の奇跡の猫チョキ」が出版されました。

その後その読者との交流がきっかけとなり、現在くろけんはペットロス症候群の方々を癒そうと自身のイラストを使った電子書籍絵本「天使になった猫チョキ」を製作中です。
